Beauty and Joy of Computing Summer PD

Applications are currently open for the BJC Summer 2019 Professional Development Program! (due May 15, 2019).

The Beauty and Joy of Computing (BJC) is a College Board endorsed curriculum and professional development provider for the AP Computer Science Principles course.  We are excited to announce two different PD opportunities for teachers this Summer 2019.

Opportunity 1 - BJC @ Pathfinders

Thanks to the generosity of the Infosys Foundation USA, we are offering FREE BJC Computer Science Professional Development at the Infosys Foundation USA Pathfinders Summer Institute July 14-19, 2019 at Indiana University - Bloomington. Funds from Infosys will match funds from schools, districts and individual donations to make it possible for teachers to attend at no cost.

Opportunity 2 - Regional BJC Professional Development

BJC has regional Summer PD for public school teachers at different locations and dates around the country. The cost of the workshop is only $75 and includes all materials and ongoing support and mentorship throughout the school year by our BJC Master Teachers.  Teachers who complete the requirements will be eligible for reasonable coverage of travel and lodging expenses.

  • June 24 - 28 at University of North Carolina, Charlotte / Charlotte, NC
  • July 8 - 12 at University of North Texas / Denton, TX (near Dallas)
  • July 8 - 12 at El Camino College / Torrance, CA
  • July 9 - 12 at Decatur High School / Decatur, AL
  • July 15 - 19 at Kean University / Union, NJ (near NYC)
  • July 22 - 26 at Harvey Mudd College / Claremont, CA
  • July 22 - 26 at Marquette University / Milwaukee, WI
  • July 29 - Aug 2 in Chicago, IL
  • July 29 - Aug 2 at Northern Kentucky University / Highland Heights, KY
  • Aug 5 - Aug 9 at University of California, Berkeley / Berkeley, CA
  • Aug 6 - 10 at George Mason University / Fairfax, VA
  • Late July / Early August - DCIU / Morton, PA (date and location to be confirmed)
